about

Here - a new single from WotD, featuring the smooth sound of Ashley Slater on vocals. On the virtual flip side, an instrumental of the same tune.

This is the first preview of a Warriors album coming, well, when it’s ready, which will most likely be towards the end of this year.

Here’s the story:

Ashley and Jonny met in the lobby of Virgin Radio in 2017. Jonny was there to talk about something extremely interesting and pertinent and Ashley was there to beg Eddie Temple Morris to play his cover of Heaven 17's Fascist Groove Thing.
Anyway, cut to 2023 and Ashley gets a message from Jonny asking him if he fancied doing a top line on a rather lovely track that Warriors of the Dystotheque had put together whilst in a recording session for the forthcoming album in Florida. Ashley said yes, and he was pleasantly surprised when a rather delicious, summery atmospheric track landed in his inbox.
He liked it so much he only had to think about it for one day, whereupon he fired back a demo to Jonny, who played it to the band and they evidently liked it. He set to work finishing it with his trademark baritone voice and shimmering clumps of backing vocals, topped off with a bit of sparkling trumpet.
Bosh.
As Ashley so, er, gently put it - A chill out love song for the middle aged lover’s of all things Balearic. Stop pretending you're young and get on board with this lush production. Thanks Ash.
